Suzy Snowflake

When we were little on the farm, these old cartoons would come on randomly late at night in the few weeks before Christmas. Nina and I would stay up all night waiting for them. They were at once eerie and enchanting. I cannot express to you the magical, mysterious feeling I get inside of me when I see these. The farm lands were so quiet during the winter where we grew up. Endless crisp, clear winter sky full of stars and snow covering the barren corn fields. My father had the fire going all night and our little rickety tv with a rabbit ear antenna would pick up about three channels. When this came on it seemed like such a strange treat from somewhere so far away, a time before which was still so innocent.

Last Christmas I played these for Rick, Ryan, and Sandy in my old apartment. We all snuggled in blankets on the floor and remembered.

Enjoy and Have a Beautiful Christmas/Hanukkah/Solstice Season.

Wow, happy solstice, davka! that cartoon really is mystical and magical. I'd never seen it before but it did conjure up that child time for me, when something magical on the old black-and-white TV would transport me into another world. Thanks for that feeling again.
