robert anton wilson, terence mckenna

Nature Is Alive! - Terence McKenna

today i had a sad thought- people like robert anton wilson and terence mckenna are so rare. when they die, are they replaced immediately and if not- where the hell are we and how will we make it? today I spent a lot of time with my past heroes, Terence McKenna, Robert Anton Wilson, Wilhelm Reich- angelic beings on earth with the rest of the shitheads, giving their lives to making things better for all shitheads equally. It's inspiring. I spent a lot of time yesterday wishing I lived in a cooler city with less shitheads fully engaged in shitheaded douche-baggery- then I went to D's beautiful garden party picnic and really saw a lot of people that I love here and I was happy. "The more one travels, the less one knows." That could mean that the more we travel, the less we get to know deeply one person or place and that is actual real knowing. Like people who bounce all over Europe visiting hot spots instead of taking time in one location. Or it could mean there is no such thing as real knowing, so the more you travel the better off you are because you start to admit cluelessness. It could mean both at the same time and most times for me, it does. Anyway, here's some RAW for you.

Terence McKenna is important, too! What I love about him is how damn excited he gets about nature. If you haven't yet, read his double book "Archaic Revival and True Hallucinations." He doesn't depress the hell out of you with total doom vision and hopelessness. He makes you fall in love with the world around you all the while giving you warning of what it will mean if we lose it.

love wilson too...though
I don't think they are better people per se-
I think they took advantage of opportunities to shine- to live their purpose and bliss-
I also think a lot of people (women in particular) shine bright, but, privately, in support of children, charities, etc.

I don't think it's only the artists with big enough ego's to accept the funding, adoration and work (all that is good mind you) that are worthy of "angel" status.

For instance, I can listen to "Songs in the Key of Life" and hear the genius or god come thru Stevie Wonder and know that is greatness, but, does it make him a better man than the kindergarten teacher, the EMT, the bus driver who got you where you needed to go without being bitter and mean or endangering everyone? No. And if we discovered that Wilson beat his partner, would it make his art less genius? If we found out he treated animals badly, would he lose status as a great artist? Or does the art that comes thru stand on it's own and we honor those who allow it to come thru so strongly, for the art- period?

What came thru Wonder was/is great-
What Wilson accomplished- AWESOME
but him as a person-
just a person, like everyone else, except maybe he said yes, when others would have hesitated.

When I'm seeing nothing but shit around me, I realize it's my own shit I'm ready to get rid of-
flush away.

robert anton wilson changed my life, particularly with cosmic trigger I and prometheus rising. I always really regretted the racist and occasionally sexist comments scattered throughout his books, but usually reading with a pencil in one hand and editing as I went was satisfying enough to allow me to enjoy the experience a lot.

by the way, I've been trying to stay off the internet, but what kind of therapist do you go to that you were describing before? she sounds amazing.

of course I didn't say he was better than a kidnergarten teacher, I just took time to mention three angelic beings I adore and yes, I think they are better than a lot of shitheads I know who spend all their time and money hurting others and being worthless consumers, living blindly. I definitely think some people are better than others. RAW is better than a lot of people I know. They are sages and I have no problem recognizing them as that with awe and praise.

And there are shitheads who I can recognize as such without it meaning anything about me inside. Such is the nature of other people being real and independent of me. Not everything I look at means something about me. I am better than a lot of people I know, honestly. I care and I do things selflessly and I create and I feel. I know a lot of people who invest all their energy into avoiding those moments and avoiding pain and avoiding being real. I think they are lesser people and I am losing compassion for them, quickly.

Ash! I had that "nature is alive" message on my voicemail for years! :)

Laura, I edited COSMIC TRIGGER a lot, too. :) Every single page had a woman mentioned who was a sex object for the hero. He became exceptionally important to me later on in his life when he wisened and softened.

She works out of the Aleathia (I could be spelling that incorrectly) Center in Swissvale. If you want to e-mail me I can send you her name if you are interested in seeing her. I really love her.

It's an understandable position-
I've always known people, artists in particular, who agree wholeheartedly with that.
I try that opinion on occasion, but, it doesn't quite fit all the way.
I can relate to it more when I am being brash
and as a mom.
I'd prefer my son only hang out with artists at least as talented and skilled as he is, with similar spiritual practices and abilities.
He calls that being a snob.
